Wednesday Wine Women: @jesslambwrites

“It’s not been a straight road into wine for me… after an English degree, I spent the first part of my career working in various commercial jobs, first in agriculture and then interiors! As much as these ultimately weren’t for me, what my first roles gave me was experience, the chance to pursue a marketing diploma and the ability to travel. It was this that took me to New Zealand where, after years of Lambrini and snakebites (not together) in my uni bar, I fell in love with wine for the first time; those cherry scented Pinot Noirs will always have a special place in my heart.⁣

So, I made a drastic career change and have now been working in wine for nearly 5 years. In that time, I’ve managed pubs, worked as an editor, written and studied extensively and have now found my mojo more than ever before - I spend 4 days a week working for a London fine wine broker and use the rest of my time to study for my WSET Diploma. Still only having been in wine for a relatively short time, I’m excited about what the future may hold - I’m hoping for lots more opportunities to indulge my twin passions for writing and learning, including a shot at the big time in the form of a go at the MW (but shhh, or you’ll jinx it!) and time to explore the beautiful places and vineyards of the world in our much-anticipated post-Covid reality.”
