Celebrate Father’s Day with Fonseca Port
For Skin + Pulp guest writer, Jenni Allen, Port is the perfect choice for Father’s Day. Read on to see what she thought of this three-pack of Fonseca Ports!
Father’s Day celebrates the paternal bond of fatherhood. For me, I’ve honoured this with a tradition of Port, a tipple we’ve shared and enjoyed together over many years. Following in the Port footsteps? Why not get Papa a pack of Port!
How to conduct a Proper Port Party
Get you and Papa a three-pack (or two) of Fonseca Port, grab a plate of Parmesan, Provolone, Pecans and a portion of Pâté. Take a pause, stop your panic, and participate in your Port party!
These tasting packs are the perfect way to experience three great Fonseca classic Ports.
Fonseca Siroco
Named after the warm wind which blows over the Mediterranean from North Africa, this is a blend of white Port grapes grown in cooler vineyard sites in the Douro Valley. Crisp, dry, full and fruity, this is aged in small oak vats creating a smooth finish. Traditionally enjoyed as a chilled aperitif, it can also be topped with tonic and fresh lemon - enjoyed with salted almonds.
Fonseca Bin 27
Blended from select reserve Ports that have been chosen for their smooth, round, full bodied palate and their intense fruit character. Maturation in large seasoned oak vats give smoothness and complexity but retain intense fruit characters of blackberry, cassis and cherry. Smooth and velvety, this Port is perfect with chocolate cake or creamy rich cheeses such as Camembert.
Fonseca Late Bottled Vintage Unfiltered 2014
An alternative to vintage Port, a more relaxed drink. High quality from a single year (2014) it’s aged in large wooden vats and drawn into bottle without additional processing or filtration and matured in bottle for up to six years. A natural expressive flavour, this Port is limited edition with only a small amount being produced in this vintage. This Late Bottled Vintage gives off aromas of raspberry, strawberry, cedar and spice. Excellent with cheese (think Brie or Roquefort) and desserts with cream and berries.
Why not watch this video here, of Fonseca Head Winemaker, David Guimeraens, discussing the process behind these three Ports.
These three-packs can be bought at The Secret Bottle Shop, Master of Malt, ND John Wines, Harvey Nichols and Just Miniatures.
