A Stay at Denbies Vineyard Hotel

Denbies is England’s largest vineyard. You’ll find it in Dorking, about an hour on the train from London.

I love my dog and I take her with me everywhere I can. Luna’s a beagle and beagles especially don’t do well on their own for long periods of time - they need to be in their pack! So, it’s an absolute blessing when a hotel not only allows dogs, but goes out of their way to cater for them. And when that hotel is a vineyard hotel, it literally can’t get much better!

I’ve just had a brilliant stay at Denbies Wine Estate in Dorking, in the beautiful Surrey Hills. It’s less than an hour’s drive from me and it’s about the same on the train from London. Well worth the journey to be surrounded by rolling hills, vineyards and fresh air.

We had a jam-packed 24 hours, which started off with a special barrel tasting of the 2022 wines with winemaker Andy Kershaw (we also tasted through the current releases). Then we had lunch in the Wine Library (a board of cheeses, smoked meats and sweet treats with paired wines), followed by a four-mile walk around the vineyards with our knowledgeable tour guide, Steve. We had a couple of hours to chill in our lovely room before a gorgeous dinner in the restaurant. Luna, our beagle, was welcome to join us for all of it!

It’s so cool to see these great hospitality offerings popping up at vineyards in the UK now. Denbies are doing a sterling job - and FYI, it’s only 25 minutes from Gatwick if you don’t live here and are flying in.

Thanks so much for having us Denbies! We all feel relaxed, recuperated, wined and dined. The perfect UK staycation for wine and dog lovers alike. Take a look at my highlights bar on my Instagram page to see my saved Stories of my stay.
